Chains of Lust

Chains of Lust is an original video animation (OVA) released in 2003 by the Milky Animation Label, a studio operating within the niche market of adult-oriented Japanese animation during the early 2000s. Produced during a period when the industry was transitioning from traditional cel animation to digital production methods, the work reflects the specific aesthetic sensibilities and storytelling tropes common to the 'hentai' OVA market of that era, which prioritized character-driven vignettes often adapted from contemporary adult manga.

The production sought to capitalize on the increasing availability of direct-to-video formats that allowed for more explicit content than television broadcasts permitted. As a relatively low-budget project, the artistic direction emphasized stylized character designs consistent with the Milky Animation Label's internal house style. Like many titles from this studio and timeframe, it was designed primarily for the domestic Japanese rental and retail market, and its reception was largely contained within specialized hobbyist circles that frequented dedicated adult media outlets.
