Yani is a catgirl with a seriously bad smoking habit. She smokes so much that her apartment smells like ash and is littered with cigarette butts—and plenty of other trash! Every time she tries to quit, she becomes weak to the cravings and gives in almost instantly. Will she ever get her life together, or is she doomed to live as a chainsmoking slob forever?

Where it came from
Chainsmoker Cat emerged in 2026 as an unconventional entry within the Bibury Animation Studios catalog, positioning itself as a moody, atmospheric counterpoint to the more high-octane action series typically associated with the studio. The project was conceived as a character-driven vignette series, designed to explore themes of modern ennui and urban isolation through the lens of a feline protagonist whose habits and environment mirror the complexities of its human-centric setting.
The visual identity of the series relies on a deliberate, low-key color palette and experimental framing, intended by the studio’s creative team to evoke a sense of late-night stillness. By focusing on mundane, observational storytelling rather than traditional narrative progression, the series received attention for its bold departure from industry standards, garnering interest from audiences who value artistic experimentation and quiet, stylized animation over conventional pacing.
