Where it came from
Released in the mid-1980s, the Choujuu Kishin Dancougar SONG SPECIAL: Juusenki-tai SONGS is an audio compilation derived from the cult classic mecha anime series produced by Ashi Productions. During this era, the studio frequently released companion music albums to bolster the popularity of their experimental, darker-toned super robot series, which stood out from its peers due to its focus on militaristic themes and character-driven drama.
The album serves as a thematic collection of character songs and instrumental cues composed to evoke the high-stakes intensity of the series. The aesthetic design features the signature bold, angular character art typical of 1980s anime visual merchandising, intended to appeal to the dedicated fanbase that followed the show's transition from its original television run to the subsequent OVA installments.
