City Hunter: Ryo no Propose

Released in 2015, City Hunter: Ryo no Propose serves as a specialized animated short celebrating the 30th anniversary of Tsukasa Hojo's iconic manga series. Produced by the studio Kamikaze Douga, the project was created as a promotional tribute to reinvigorate interest in the franchise, bridging the gap between the classic 1980s aesthetic and the modern animation techniques emerging in the mid-2010s.

The animation features a distinct stylistic shift toward 3D cel-shading, a hallmark of Kamikaze Douga's approach to blending traditional character designs with contemporary visual depth. By revisiting Ryo Saeba's signature comedic and high-stakes romantic scenarios, the short was designed to appeal to both long-time devotees of the original source material and a new generation of viewers, ultimately functioning as a polished, brief distillation of the character's enduring charm.
