It's Chief Gooley's worst nightmare come true. The Lovely Angels are back on the job, but this time the 3WA's Central Computer has assigned them two cases at the same time: investigate a space liner explosion in which three hundred people died, but no one`s come forward to claim any insurance money; and find a missing scientist and his family.
Could the two cases be connected? Only the Central Computer knows and it's not talking. So it's up the Dirty Pair to get down and dirty and solve the puzzle before time runs out for a grieving grandfather, his family and the universe!

Where it came from
Released in 1990, the Dirty Pair: Flight 005 Conspiracy originated as an original video animation (OVA) project based on the popular light novel and anime franchise created by Haruka Takachiho. Produced during a period when the original animation market was flourishing in Japan, this installment aimed to capitalize on the success of the 1985 television series. The narrative follows the iconic duo, Kei and Yuri, as they navigate a high-stakes hijacking scenario that blends traditional science fiction tropes with the franchise's signature lighthearted action and character dynamics.
The production of this specific OVA was handled by Studio Sunrise, with the English-language version later licensed and distributed by The Right Stuf International. The aesthetic design remains consistent with the late 1980s era of cel animation, focusing on vibrant, cinematic character models and detailed mecha elements. Upon its arrival in the North American market, it was received as a key entry for fans of the 'trouble consultant' genre, noted for successfully distilling the energetic, comedic tone of the original Dirty Pair mythos into a standalone feature-length format.
