Dirty Pair Flash 3

Dirty Pair Flash 3 serves as the third and final installment of the 1990s reboot series focusing on the iconic duo, Kei and Yuri. Produced by Sunrise and released as an OVA in 1996, this production shifted the tone of the original 1980s franchise, opting for a more stylized aesthetic that reflected the changing trends in anime character design during the mid-nineties. The project sought to modernize the adventures of the 'Lovely Angels' for a new generation while maintaining the signature blend of high-stakes science fiction action and lighthearted banter.

The visual direction and character redesigns were spearheaded by Masami Suda, whose work sought to emphasize dynamic movement and a distinctively sleek look. By this point in the series, the production team was leaning heavily into the high-production values common to OVA releases of the era. While reception among long-time fans was varied due to the significant departure from the classic 1985 series' characterizations, the series remains a notable artifact of Sunrise's mid-nineties output and a key chapter in the evolution of the Dirty Pair multimedia franchise.
