Natsuo Fuji has a serious crush on one of his teachers, Hina Tachibana, but since he knows he has zero chance of ever being in a relationship with her, he lets his friends talk him into going to a party where he meets Rui. One thing leads to another and then, well, neither of them is a virgin anymore. Unfortunately, it wasn't what they expected, but that's fine. They're just ships passing in the night and they'll never have to see each other again, right? Except when Natsuo's father announces that he's getting married again, Natsuo discovers that he's getting two new step-sisters as well. Now there's a problem, because one is his teacher, Hina, and the other is Rui.

Where it came from
Domestic Girlfriend, known in Japan as Domestic na Kanojo, was produced by Studio Diomedéa and aired in 2019. Based on the long-running manga series by Kei Sasuga, the narrative explores the complex and often controversial romantic entanglements between a high school student and his two new stepsisters. The production sought to capture the intense emotional stakes and melodramatic tropes common to the seinen romance genre, aiming to translate the manga's visual style into a serialized television format.
The adaptation was directed by Shōta Ihata and was notable for its distinct visual direction and a prominent opening theme song that garnered significant online attention. Upon its release, the series became a frequent subject of discourse within anime communities due to its provocative themes and the rapid pace of its storytelling. While critical reception varied regarding its narrative choices, the series remains a recognizable entry in the late-2010s romantic drama catalog.
