Where it came from
The New Record of Nobita - Spaceblazer, released in 2009, serves as the twenty-ninth entry in the long-running Doraemon feature film series and represents a modern reimagining of the original 1980 film. Produced by the core studio team and distributed in specific regional markets including those overseen by Bandai Namco subsidiaries, the film was designed to introduce Fujiko F. Fujio’s classic science fiction narrative to a new generation of viewers while retaining the emotional heart of the friendship between Nobita and the extraterrestrial Loppl.
The film’s aesthetic direction was guided by the intent to modernize the visual landscape of the planet Koya Koya while preserving the distinct, endearing character designs established in the manga. Upon its release, it was received as a respectful tribute to the early works of the franchise, successfully balancing the nostalgic themes of adventure and personal growth that have defined the Doraemon series for decades.
