Where it came from
Dropkick on My Devil! Episode 12, titled The Last Supper and the Last Day, serves as the season one finale of the anime adaptation based on Yukiwo's manga. Produced by studio Nomad and directed by Hikaru Sato, the episode concludes the absurdist comedy centered on Jashin-chan, a lamia summoned to the human world by a gothic lolita college student named Yurine Hanazono. The series gained attention for its slapstick humor and the complex, often violent relationship between the two leads, which provided the structural foundation for the show's chaotic tone.
The production design reflects the comedic essence of the manga, utilizing character designs by Makoto Koga that emphasize expressive, often exaggerated reactions to complement the dark humor. Upon its 2018 release, the episode was received as a definitive capstone to the season's established rhythm, blending the supernatural premise with the mundane frustrations of the characters' shared living situation. It remains a notable entry in the series, helping to solidify the show's cult status and eventually leading to multiple subsequent seasons and crowdfunding campaigns driven by its dedicated fan base.
