Where it came from
Released in 2017, Eiga Kamisama Minarai: Himitsu no Cocotama: Kiseki o Okose ♪ Tepple to Dokidoki Cocotama Kai serves as the theatrical expansion of the popular children's anime series produced by OLM, Inc. The franchise centers on 'Cocotama,' tiny gods born from the thoughts and feelings of objects that humans cherish. This film was developed to capitalize on the series' success in the toy and merchandising market, integrating new characters and an original narrative arc that emphasizes the themes of gratitude and the secret lives of household items.
The film was produced by the animation powerhouse OLM, known for its extensive work on major long-running franchises like Pokémon. The design and animation reflect the series' bright, high-energy aesthetic, aimed at a younger demographic through character-driven storytelling. Upon release, it was received as a standard feature-length addition to the established television canon, performing as a mid-tier theatrical entry that successfully reinforced the broader Cocotama multimedia brand without significantly deviating from the established visual style defined by the original television production.
