Where it came from
The Evangelion × Attack ZERO collaboration emerged in 2021 as a highly stylized promotional campaign bridging the worlds of high-concept anime and domestic utility. Produced by WIT Studio, the short ONA served as a commercial crossover between the Evangelion franchise and the Kao Corporation’s Attack ZERO laundry detergent line. The project was designed to inject the cinematic intensity of mecha combat into the mundane activity of doing laundry, utilizing the recognizable aesthetic of Studio Khara’s Evangelion to elevate the brand's visibility in the Japanese consumer market.
The design of the campaign centers on a reimagined visual identity where the iconic Eva Units are framed within the context of scientific cleanliness and high-tech maintenance. WIT Studio, known for its dynamic animation style, prioritized a sleek, kinetic approach that mirrored the high-stakes sequences of the original series while maintaining the brand's focus on chemical efficiency. The collaboration was received as a clever piece of pop-culture marketing, lauded by fans for its commitment to high-quality animation that surpassed standard commercial production values.
