Evangelion (Shinsaku Series)

The Evangelion Shinsaku series represents a distinct modern evolution within the long-standing Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. Following the conclusion of the Rebuild of Evangelion films, this iteration sought to explore new narrative avenues, with the production duties entrusted to studio CloverWorks. The shift in studio oversight brought a refined aesthetic sensibility to the property, aiming to balance the franchise's traditional psychological depth with updated, fluid animation techniques characteristic of contemporary high-end studio productions.

The creative direction for these releases was guided by a desire to modernize the visual language established in the 1990s while maintaining the iconic character designs that define the series. By leveraging CloverWorks' strength in character-driven storytelling and intricate environmental design, the team intended to revitalize the series for a new generation of viewers. Upon its announcement and initial rollout, the series was received with significant curiosity, serving as a point of scholarly and fan discourse regarding the artistic adaptation of Gainax-originated material under new creative leadership.
