14-year-old Nozomi Onda has only one thing on her mind: playing beautiful soccer. There's just one problem: no matter how much she longs to participate in official matches, she'd have physically superior boys as opponents. But when a boy from her past confronts her on the street, she decides she can't wait any longer.

Where it came from
Farewell, My Dear Cramer: First Touch serves as a cinematic prequel to the 2021 television anime adaptation of Naoshi Arakawa’s manga series, Farewell, My Dear Cramer. Produced by LIDENFILMS and directed by Seiki Takuno, the film was released in 2021 to provide essential backstory for the protagonist, Nozomi Onda, detailing her time in middle school. The narrative focuses on her challenges playing on a boys' soccer team and the determination that shapes her path toward professional women's soccer.
The production design captures the grounded, sports-focused aesthetic established in the original manga. LIDENFILMS aimed to emphasize the technical aspects of soccer alongside the emotional growth of the characters, maintaining consistency with the television series' art style. Upon release, the film was noted by viewers as a meaningful companion piece that deepened the character development of the ensemble cast, grounding the subsequent television series in the formative experiences of its lead characters.
