Where it came from
The Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood OVA collection was produced by Studio Bones to complement the 2009 anime series, which served as a more faithful adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's original manga than its 2003 predecessor. These short films were released as special bonus content included with various Japanese Blu-ray and DVD volumes, intended to provide fans with additional character-driven narratives that fell outside the scope of the main plot.
The animation quality remains consistent with the high standards of the main series, maintaining the distinct character designs and dark, alchemical aesthetic that the studio established for the franchise. These vignettes were designed to offer a deeper look at the Elric brothers' personal motivations and the histories of their comrades, and they were well-received by the dedicated fan base for their ability to balance lighthearted humor with the series' signature philosophical gravity.
