Fullmetal Alchemist: Reflections

Fullmetal Alchemist: Reflections was released in 2005 by the animation studio Bones as a retrospective special following the conclusion of the original 2003 television series. Produced to bridge the gap between the show's finale and the theatrical film, Conqueror of Shamballa, the special functions as a recap and emotional summary, revisiting the central narrative arc of Edward and Alphonse Elric. It was designed to provide long-term viewers with a reflective overview of the brothers' journey, utilizing existing footage to highlight the series' major themes of sacrifice, alchemy, and human resilience.

The visual presentation remains consistent with the high production standards set by Bones during the series' initial run, emphasizing the distinctive art direction of director Seiji Mizushima. By distilling the complex, multi-layered plot into a cohesive narrative sequence, the special was received as a commemorative piece for the series' dedicated fanbase. It stands as a formal conclusion to the television production cycle, reflecting the studio's commitment to maintaining narrative integrity across the franchise's various media iterations.
