Where it came from
Geats Extra: Geats Anime - Another Grand Prix is a two-episode original net animation released in 2023 as part of the Kamen Rider Geats franchise. It was produced by Toei Company to expand upon the lore of the Desire Grand Prix, offering a stylistic departure from the main series by utilizing an animated format to explore a surreal alternate timeline where the primary characters are depicted as chibi-style avatars.
The animation serves as a creative offshoot of the live-action tokusatsu show, leveraging the established character archetypes of Ace Ukiyo and his rivals while subverting the typical stakes of the franchise. It was designed to provide a playful, comedic look at the series' core mechanics, focusing on the whimsical interaction between the Riders in a constrained, board-game-inspired competition that resonated with fans looking for a lighter, more experimental perspective on the Geats universe.
