An OVA starring "GebaGeba Ojiisan", who was the star character of an animated segment created by Renzo Kinoshita on the variety show "Koizumi x Maebue Geba Geba 90-minutes!" from 1969. Many of the tapes for this variety show were destroyed at the time, including these animated segments. Renzo Kinoshita produced this OVA, creating a completely new collection of short gags, in order to restore these segments of the GebaGeba program.

Where it came from
Geba Geba Shou Time! was released in 1990 as an original video animation, serving as a prominent example of the experimental and often provocative content that defined the late eighties and early nineties direct-to-video market in Japan. Produced during an era when the OVA format allowed creators to bypass the strict broadcast standards of television, the title encapsulates the bold, frequently surreal aesthetic sensibilities of its production team as they aimed to push the boundaries of visual storytelling.
The production sought to blend idiosyncratic animation styles with the fast-paced, episodic humor that was gaining traction in alternative media circles at the time. While it was never intended for mainstream commercial distribution, it remains a notable artifact for historians of the medium, representing the creative freedom—and occasional narrative chaos—afforded to studios that operated on the fringes of the mainstream anime industry.
