Where it came from
The Star Odyssey short film was produced by miHoYo Anime and released in 2022 to commemorate the second anniversary of the open-world action role-playing game Genshin Impact. Created as a celebratory piece, the animation serves as a narrative bridge that honors the collective journey of the game's community, blending the title's signature aesthetic with a high-fidelity visual style that reflects the developers' focus on immersive storytelling.
The film was designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia and exploration, featuring key character designs overseen by miHoYo’s internal art teams. By emphasizing the expansive, atmospheric landscapes of the fictional world of Teyvat, the animation was received as a heartfelt tribute to the player base. It remains a notable example of the studio's commitment to transmedia expansion, successfully translating the game's expansive lore into a concise, cinematic format.
