Ginga Hyouryuu Vifam 13

Ginga Hyouryuu Vifam 13 was released in 1998 as a direct television sequel to the 1983 classic science fiction anime, Ginga Hyouryuu Vifam. Produced by Sunrise, the series sought to revisit the narrative of the original space-faring children years after their initial odyssey. The production was intended to capitalize on the nostalgia of the original series' fanbase while updating the visual aesthetic to reflect the animation standards of the late nineties.

The character and mechanical designs were rooted in the legacy of the original series, maintaining the distinct look of the Vifam mecha while incorporating subtle refinements. While the original series was noted for its grounded, character-driven focus on children surviving in space, Vifam 13 shifted toward a more mature, episodic perspective. Upon its release, it was received as a contemplative addition to the franchise, appreciated by long-time followers for its commitment to the original cast's development, though it occupied a niche space within the broader Sunrise catalog.
