Ginga Hyouryuu Vifam: "Kate no Kioku" - Namida no Dakkai Sakusen!!

Ginga Hyouryuu Vifam: 'Kate no Kioku' - Namida no Dakkai Sakusen!! was produced by Sunrise in 1985 as a direct follow-up to the television series Ginga Hyouryuu Vifam. Following the conclusion of the original 46-episode sci-fi saga, which depicted a group of children stranded in deep space after an alien invasion, this OVA was developed to provide fans with a resolution to lingering narrative threads. The production sought to capitalize on the series' popularity by reassembling the core creative team to offer a concluding chapter for the protagonists' journey home.

The design and direction of this entry maintained the aesthetic established by the television series, focusing on the distinct character designs by Toyoo Ashida. The animation style adhered to the standards of mid-1980s Sunrise productions, emphasizing the emotional growth of the young characters as they faced their final challenges. Upon release, the OVA was well-received by the existing audience as a necessary epilogue, serving to solidify the legacy of a series noted for its character-driven approach to the real robot genre.
