Gundam Build Fighters: Battlogue

Gundam Build Fighters: Battlogue was released in 2017 as a five-episode ONA series designed to bridge the gap between various entries in the Build Fighters franchise. Produced by Sunrise, the series served as a showcase for model kits, specifically the Gunpla units, allowing characters from previous iterations to engage in dream matches that would not typically occur within the constraints of the main narrative arcs. It functioned largely as a promotional vehicle for the high-end customizable kits being marketed by Bandai at the time.

The project emphasized the creative freedom inherent in the hobby of Gunpla building, prioritizing kinetic action sequences and fanservice over complex character development. The designs focused on updated aesthetic variations of classic mobile suits, reflecting a sleek, modernized approach to mechanical animation. Upon release, the series was well-received by the dedicated hobbyist community for its focus on experimental combat scenarios and the technical fluidity of its animation, effectively reinforcing the brand's connection between media consumption and physical model assembly.
