Following their participation at the Inter-High, the Karasuno High School volleyball team attempts to refocus their efforts, aiming to conquer the Spring tournament instead.
When they receive an invitation from long-standing rival Nekoma High, Karasuno agrees to take part in a large training camp alongside many notable volleyball teams in Tokyo and even some national level players. By playing with some of the toughest teams in Japan, they hope not only to sharpen their skills, but also come up with new attacks that would strengthen them. Moreover, Hinata and Kageyama attempt to devise a more powerful weapon, one that could possibly break the sturdiest of blocks.
Facing what may be their last chance at victory before the senior players graduate, the members of Karasuno's volleyball team must learn to settle their differences and train harder than ever if they hope to overcome formidable opponents old and new—including their archrival Aoba Jousai and its world-class setter Tooru Oikawa.

Where it came from
Haikyu!! 2nd Season was produced by Production I.G and released in 2015 as a direct continuation of the anime adaptation of Haruichi Furudate’s long-running sports manga. Set during the team's intensive training camp and the subsequent Interhigh qualifiers, this installment was created to expand the narrative depth and character development beyond the introductory matches of the first season. The studio aimed to elevate the visual intensity of the volleyball sequences, employing dynamic camera work to capture the sport's pace, which helped solidify the series as a modern touchstone in the sports anime genre.
The production team, led by director Susumu Mitsunaka, focused on refining the distinct character designs established in the manga while emphasizing the emotional stakes of the Karasuno High School volleyball club. Upon its release, the second season received significant critical acclaim, particularly for its improved animation quality and the nuanced portrayal of the team's evolving interpersonal dynamics. It is widely credited with broadening the show's international appeal, helping the franchise become one of the most recognizable and successful sports properties in contemporary animation.
