After the victory against Aoba Jousai High, Karasuno High School, once called “a fallen powerhouse, a crow that can’t fly,” has finally reached the climax of the heated Spring tournament. Now, to advance to nationals, the Karasuno team has to defeat the powerhouse Shiratorizawa Academy. Karasuno’s greatest hurdle is their adversary’s ace, Wakatoshi Ushijima, the number one player in the Miyagi Prefecture, and one of the country’s top three aces.
Only the strongest team will make it to the national tournament. Since this match is the third-year players’ last chance to qualify for nationals, Karasuno has to use everything they learned during the training camp and prior matches to attain victory. Filled with restlessness and excitement, both teams are determined to come out on top in the third season of Haikyuu!!.

Where it came from
Haikyu!! 3rd Season, officially titled Haikyu!!: Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy, was produced by Production I.G and released in 2016. It focuses entirely on the decisive final match of the Interhigh tournament, condensing the high-stakes confrontation between Karasuno’s underdog squad and the powerhouse Shiratorizawa Academy into a ten-episode arc. This season was created to provide a singular, intense narrative focus on the tactical and psychological duel between Hinata Shoyo and the formidable ace Ushijima Wakatoshi.
The series was directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, who sought to maintain the kinetic energy and emotional stakes established in the previous seasons while elevating the animation quality to capture the sheer power of the volleyball exchanges. The adaptation of Haruichi Furudate's original manga was highly praised for its pacing and the visceral impact of its match choreography. It solidified the franchise’s reputation for balancing rigorous technical accuracy in sports with deeply developed character growth, cementing its place as a landmark entry in the modern sports anime genre.
