Hakumei and Mikochi: A Screw and a Bed / The Fireside and Gambling

Hakumei and Mikochi: A Screw and a Bed / The Fireside and Gambling was produced by Studio Lerche and released in 2018 as an original video animation. It serves as a supplemental episode to the television series adaptation of Takuto Kashiki's manga, which follows the daily lives of two tiny women living in the woods. The animation was created to capture the whimsical, pastoral aesthetic of the original source material, emphasizing the intricate, miniature-scale world-building and cozy atmosphere that defined the franchise.

The animation reflects the creative direction of director Masaomi Ando and the studio's commitment to maintaining a warm, handcrafted visual style. Upon release, the OVA was well-received by fans of the series, who appreciated how it expanded on the quiet, contemplative pacing of the main show. It remains a notable example of the slice-of-life genre, praised for its detailed background art and the charm of its diminutive protagonists.
