Where it came from
Hanoka was produced by the studio RAMS and aired in 2006 as a unique experiment in the digital animation landscape. It emerged during a period of rapid exploration in low-budget, high-concept CG storytelling, aiming to leverage new rendering technologies to deliver a complex science fiction narrative within a serialized television format.
The series was designed to push the boundaries of accessible digital production, though its reception remains a subject of debate within animation circles. Its visual style reflects the ambitious yet constrained aesthetic typical of the mid-2000s experimental CG era, where creators sought to bridge the gap between traditional storytelling and emerging computer-generated techniques.
