Koume is a new employee of Caramel Ribbon, Inc., a firm of designers. This is the story of her days and nights, complete with humour unique to Osaka. Seen from outside, Kansai doesn't seem like the rest of Japan. Watching this show will make you an expert, even if you know nothing about the area right now.
It's a humorous tale of life in a Japanese company, with Koume, her effeminate boss, and Kimi, a one-time girl gang member, as they try to sell (supposedly) new and fresh designs. The voice actors also come from Kansai, ensuring authenticity.

Where it came from
Here Comes Koume! was produced by Studio Gainax and released in 1999 as part of the studio's experimental period following the conclusion of Neon Genesis Evangelion. It was created as a whimsical, short-form series designed to showcase a different aesthetic direction, focusing on lighthearted, character-driven storytelling that stood in stark contrast to the dense, psychological narratives the studio had become known for at the time.
The series centers on its titular character and was designed to emphasize a soft, approachable visual style that favored charm over technical complexity. While it remains a niche entry in the Gainax catalog, it is recognized by animation historians as an example of the studio’s willingness to diversify its output and explore gentler themes, though it did not reach the same critical or commercial prominence as the studio's major tentpole franchises.
