Where it came from
How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω serves as the second season of the anime adaptation based on the light novel series by Yukiya Murasaki. Produced in 2021, this installment saw a shift in primary animation production from Ajia-do Animation Works to Tezuka Productions and Okuruto Noboru. The transition was intended to maintain the series' signature blend of fantasy adventure and comedy, continuing the narrative of Diablo, a socially awkward gamer transported into the body of his high-level MMORPG character.
The character designs were once again handled by Shizue Kaneko, who aimed to preserve the aesthetic established in the first season while accommodating the production shift. While the series maintains a niche following within the isekai genre, it is frequently discussed in the context of studio transitions in modern anime production. Reception remains consistent with the series' reputation as an unapologetic take on fantasy tropes, focusing on the comedic friction between the protagonist's immense power and his internal anxieties.
