Where it came from
I Fall in Love with You Through a Robot was produced by A-1 Pictures as a promotional project for the electronics manufacturer SoftBank. Released in 2017, the short film served as a creative bridge between corporate branding and traditional narrative animation, utilizing the studio’s signature polish to explore themes of artificial intelligence and human connection.
The film’s design and visual direction draw from the contemporary aesthetics established by A-1 Pictures throughout the 2010s, focusing on emotive character expressions and a crisp, clean color palette. While it functions as a piece of commercial art, it was received as a competent exercise in storytelling that reflected the company’s forward-looking interest in robotics, emphasizing the nuanced intersection of technology and romance in a modern setting.
