Ichigo 100% Original DVD Animation

The Ichigo 100% Original Video Animation series was produced by the studio Madhouse and released in 2005. It serves as an adaptation of Mizuki Kawashita’s popular romantic comedy manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, which centered on the protagonist Junpei Manaka and his complicated romantic entanglement with four distinct young women. The production of these OVAs was intended to flesh out specific narrative arcs from the manga, offering fans a visual representation of the series' core high-school drama and lighthearted fan service.

The animation reflects the aesthetic standards of mid-2000s television anime, characterized by a clean, bright color palette and character designs that closely mirror Kawashita’s distinct artistic style. Madhouse sought to capture the series' shift between earnest emotional development and comedic mishaps. Upon release, the OVA was received as a quintessential example of the harem genre of that era, favored by audiences who appreciated the transition of the manga’s established character dynamics into a serialized animated format.
