The concept behind the project is a "battle royale" between three idol units, each one led by a Sengoku-era commander who has been reincarnated as a music producer. The winner of the battle royale will be determined by sales numbers and voting at each live performance. The group that wins will hold a grand live performance to adopt the name of "the greatest under the heavens."

Where it came from
The IDOL bu SHOW movie, released in 2022, serves as the cinematic conclusion to the multi-media franchise project launched in 2019. Produced by the studio Amineworks, the film was designed to synthesize the various narrative threads of the voice-acting project, which combined idol-themed performance elements with a unique competition-style structure centered around aspiring music industry hopefuls.
The animation and character design aimed to capture the energetic aesthetic typical of the idol genre while emphasizing the distinct visual identities of the competing units. Upon its release, the film was positioned for the franchise's established fanbase, focusing on bringing closure to the central conflicts presented in the preceding audio dramas and live-event iterations.
