Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny Sekiheki Onsen Daikessen

Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny - Sekiheki Onsen Daikessen was released in 2007 as a direct-to-video special, functioning as an additional episode for the second season of the Ikkitousen anime series. Produced by Genco and animated by ARMS, the project emerged during the height of the franchise's popularity, which adapted Yuji Shiozaki's long-running manga series that reimagines historical figures from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms as modern-day high school martial artists. The special leans into the series' signature blend of high-stakes combat and extensive fanservice, specifically centered around a comedic hot spring scenario that provides a tonal shift from the more serious martial arts narrative of the main series.

The visual direction and character designs maintain the aesthetic established in the Dragon Destiny season, focusing on the dynamic, action-oriented character silhouettes characteristic of early-to-mid 2000s ecchi anime. Created under the direction of Koichi Ohata, the special was designed to appeal to the established fanbase by placing the core cast in a quintessential anime trope setting. While it was received primarily as a niche promotional supplement rather than a canonical necessity, it remains a notable example of the era's tendency to produce OVAs and shorts to maintain audience engagement between broadcast seasons.
