Ikki Tousen: Extravaganza Epoch

Ikki Tousen: Extravaganza Epoch was produced by Studio ARMS in 2014 as a two-part original video animation series. This installment serves as a direct follow-up to the long-running Ikki Tousen franchise, which reinterprets the characters and conflicts of the Chinese classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms as modern-day high school students in Japan. The series maintains the franchise's established focus on high-stakes martial arts battles, strategic combat, and the signature fan service aesthetic that has defined the series since its manga inception in 2000.

The animation direction for Extravaganza Epoch continued the studio’s practice of emphasizing kinetic fight choreography while updating character designs to align with mid-2010s production standards. As a direct-to-video release, it was crafted primarily for the existing fanbase, focusing on delivering a condensed, high-intensity narrative arc rather than the expansive storytelling of the television iterations. It was received by the community as a standard entry in the series, recognized for its commitment to the established visual style and the ongoing supernatural power dynamics inherent to the franchise.
