Kawahira Keita is a descendant of a historic Inukami tamer family. However, because he lacked in its ability, he was forsaken by the family. One day, an Inukami named Youko came. She looked graceful, obedient, above all, beautiful. Soon he contracted with her, and she paid homage to him. However, she was a problematic Inukami that no one had been able to control.
This is a slap stick comedy of an Inukami Tamer, Keita and an Inukami, Youko. Keita is a man of worldly passions, and he likes money and girls very much. On the other hand, Youko likes to destroy things and is very jealous.

Where it came from
Inukami! was produced by Studio Seven Arcs and broadcast in 2006, adapting the light novel series written by Mamizu Arisawa. The production emerged during a period when Seven Arcs was diversifying its portfolio, moving beyond its established work on the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise to explore more comedic, character-driven supernatural stories. The series follows the chaotic relationship between a lackluster exorcist and a volatile, dog-like spirit, blending elements of fantasy, slapstick comedy, and fan-service typical of mid-2000s anime.
The series was directed by Keizo Kusakawa, who aimed to emphasize the dynamic and often antagonistic chemistry between the lead characters. The visual style leaned into the aesthetic conventions of the era, utilizing vibrant character designs to reflect the frantic nature of the source material. Upon its release, it was received as a lighthearted diversion that catered to fans of supernatural rom-coms, finding a steady audience that appreciated its eccentric tone and the evolving emotional arc of its protagonist, Keita Kawahira.
