Jian Xian Zaici 2

Jian Xian Zaici 2, also known as The Immortal Swordsman in the Reverse World, is a Chinese original net animation (ONA) produced by the streaming platform iQIYI. It emerged during a period of significant growth for domestic Chinese animation, or donghua, which saw platforms like iQIYI and Tencent investing heavily in high-fidelity 3D CGI adaptations of popular web novels and manhua to capture a burgeoning youth demographic.

The series draws heavily from the xianxia genre, blending elements of high fantasy, martial arts, and cultivation mythology. The character designs and visual aesthetic were crafted to align with contemporary digital animation standards in China, emphasizing fluid action choreography and the ornate, gravity-defying costumes characteristic of the genre. Upon its release, the series was received primarily by a niche audience of donghua enthusiasts who follow serialized web adaptations, serving as a vehicle for the platform's strategy to retain subscribers through consistent, episodic fantasy content.
