Junior High and High School!! Kimetsu Academy Story: Kimetsu no Utage Special Edition

Junior High and High School!! Kimetsu Academy Story was produced by studio ufotable as a lighthearted spin-off of the globally successful Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise. It originated as a series of short segments featured in the Blu-ray and DVD releases of the main anime, reimagining the familiar characters as students and teachers in a modern-day school setting. This special edition expanded on those vignettes, offering fans a comedic departure from the high-stakes, supernatural drama of the primary narrative.

The animation maintains the high production standards ufotable is known for, even while pivoting toward a stylized, chibi-influenced aesthetic suited for a slice-of-life comedy. The design focuses on translating character traits into school archetypes, a creative choice that was well-received by the existing fanbase for its self-referential humor and its ability to humanize the series' protagonists in a low-pressure environment. It serves as a testament to the brand's versatility in adapting its core intellectual property into diverse formats.
