Junior High and High School!! Kimetsu Academy Story: Valentine Edition

Junior High and High School!! Kimetsu Academy Story: Valentine Edition was produced by studio ufotable as a series of short, comedic ONA specials released in February 2021. The project serves as an official spin-off of the globally successful Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise, reimagining its dramatic characters as students and teachers in a modern-day school setting. These vignettes were created to celebrate Valentine's Day, leaning into the lighthearted, slapstick tone of the original Kimetsu Academy omake segments found in the source manga's volume extras.

The animation design retains the aesthetic signatures of ufotable's high-quality production style, though adapted for a whimsical, chibi-inspired visual shorthand. By placing established action-heavy characters into mundane academic conflicts, the team aimed to offer fans a relaxed, humorous alternative to the series' typically intense narrative arcs. Upon its release via official digital platforms, the series was well-received by the existing fan base for its ability to maintain the personality of the characters while exploring a completely different genre context.
