Where it came from
Kemono Michi: Rise Up was produced by Studio ENGI and aired in 2019 as an adaptation of the manga series written by Natsume Akatsuki, who is also known for creating KonoSuba. The series follows a professional wrestler who is summoned to a fantasy world and chooses to open a pet shop for beasts rather than embark on a traditional heroic quest, blending the isekai genre with the absurdity of professional wrestling.
The anime was directed by Kazuya Miura with character designs adapted for animation by Tomoka Noumi. It was intended to capture the comedic tone and slapstick nature of the original manga, focusing on the protagonist's eccentric personality and his literal obsession with animals. While the production leaned heavily into the chaotic energy of the source material, it received a mixed critical reception, with praise directed at its unique premise but noted for its relatively low-budget animation quality.
