KENGAN ASHURA Part I

Kengan Ashura Part I was produced by Larx Entertainment and released as an original net animation in 2019. It serves as an adaptation of the long-running manga series written by Yabako Sandrovich and illustrated by Daromeon, which centers on high-stakes, corporate-sponsored gladiator combat. The production was aimed at capturing the visceral intensity of the source material's fight choreography within a 3D animation framework.

The series is notable for its distinct visual direction, which utilizes cel-shaded 3D character models to replicate the heavy, muscular aesthetic defined by Daromeon’s artwork. Upon its debut on Netflix, it was received as a polarizing but technically ambitious effort, with fans of the manga noting how the 3D style allowed for fluid, dynamic camera movements during the complex martial arts sequences that would have been difficult to achieve through traditional hand-drawn animation.
