KENGAN ASHURA Season 2

Kengan Ashura Season 2 was released in 2023, continuing the high-octane martial arts tournament narrative adapted from the manga series by Yabako Sandrovich and Daromeon. Produced by Larx Entertainment, the season transitions the series into its final climactic arcs, maintaining the distinctive 3D CGI animation style that defines the show's visual identity. The production sought to capture the visceral impact of the hand-to-hand combat while navigating the logistical complexities of animating diverse, muscular character designs that are famously dense in detail.

The decision to utilize 3D CGI for this series was initially met with mixed reactions from fans accustomed to traditional 2D animation in the genre, but Larx Entertainment leaned into the medium to ensure the fluidity of the choreography. By focusing on intricate camera work and lighting to emphasize the weight of each fighter, the team aimed to push the technical boundaries of what is expected from a fight-focused ONA. Upon release, the season was noted for its faithfulness to the source material's aggressive energy and its successful efforts in refining the rendering techniques established in the first season.
