Where it came from
Kero Kero Chime was produced by Studio Comet and aired in 1997, based on the manga series by Magu Yoshioka. The narrative follows the story of a princess named Mimori, who is transformed into a frog by a curse, leading to a lighthearted quest involving an assortment of fairy-tale characters. The series is emblematic of the late 1990s shōjo-comedy genre, blending whimsical fantasy elements with the typical school-life tropes popular in Japanese animation of the era.
The character designs were intended to appeal to a younger demographic, emphasizing a cutesy, rounded aesthetic that reflected the series' comedic tone. As a production of Studio Comet, the series utilized the established animation techniques of the time to create a vibrant, fluid experience. While it remains a relatively niche title in the broader landscape of late 90s anime, it is remembered by enthusiasts of the genre for its cheerful art style and the enduring charm of its central premise.
