The Yamada family consists of Miiko, her brother Mamoru and her parents. Both of her parents have work, so they are usually busy during the day and are outside of the house most of the time. The troubles in Yamada family are usually caused by Miiko's lazy character and her clumsiness.

Where it came from
Kocchi Muite! Miiko originated as a long-running manga series by Eriko Ono, serialized in the shojo magazine Ciao starting in 1995. The story follows the daily life, school experiences, and family dynamics of a spirited elementary school girl named Miiko Yamada. The narrative is noted for its ability to evolve alongside its readership, addressing age-appropriate themes from grade school crushes to more mature familial shifts.
The 1998 anime adaptation was produced by Toei Animation as part of the Saturday morning programming block, airing briefly as a segment within the program Anime TV. Designed to capture the lighthearted and relatable tone of Ono's artwork, the series utilized a vibrant, simplified aesthetic typical of late-90s children's television. While the anime was a concise project compared to the sprawling legacy of the manga, it remains a recognized entry in the slice-of-life genre for younger audiences.
