The special titled Ryoutsu VS Ninja Gundan! Ura Edo-jou Ougon Densetsu leans into the series' penchant for high-concept, adventurous romps that deviate from the typical station-based antics. Designed to expand the scope of Ryotsu's exploits, the narrative frames the protagonist against a backdrop of historical mystery and ninjutsu. It was received as a typical outing for the character, leveraging the reliable comedic chemistry between Ryotsu and his supporting cast to offer fans an extended narrative experience that maintained the franchise's established tone.
