Mahoutsukai Precure! Kiseki no Henshin! Cure Mofurun!

Mahoutsukai Precure! Kiseki no Henshin! Cure Mofurun! was released in 2016 as the theatrical feature for the thirteenth installment of the long-running Precure magical girl franchise. Produced by Toei Animation and directed by Yuta Tanaka, the film serves as a narrative expansion of the television series, focusing on the character Mofurun, a sentient teddy bear who is magically transformed into a Precure for the first time. The production aimed to highlight themes of friendship and the deep emotional bond between the protagonist, Mirai, and her cherished toy, marking a unique instance in the franchise where a mascot character takes a central role in the transformation sequence.

The film's visual identity remains consistent with the aesthetic established by the television series, characterized by vibrant, whimsical designs centered on magic and academic fantasy. The character design for Cure Mofurun, specifically, was crafted to bridge the gap between the adorable mascot form and the heroic Precure archetype, incorporating teddy bear motifs into an ornate, frilly costume. Upon its debut, the film was well-regarded by fans for its sentimental storytelling and emotional resonance, ultimately proving to be one of the more popular entries in the Precure filmography due to its focus on a beloved secondary character.
