My ACG Parents

My ACG Parents is an original net animation produced by the Chinese platform Bilibili. The series emerged during a period of rapid growth for Bilibili's domestic animation department, which sought to create content that bridged the gap between traditional family storytelling and the aesthetics of Japanese-inspired anime subcultures. It explores the generational friction and cultural exchange between parents and children who are deeply entrenched in ACG—animation, comics, and games—culture.

The series is characterized by its lighthearted, slice-of-life approach, intentionally designed to evoke empathy from a modern Chinese audience navigating changing digital landscapes. The design team focused on creating relatable domestic settings while integrating stylistic tropes common in internet-native animation, such as expressive character sprites and comedic framing. Upon its release, it was received as a niche but culturally significant experiment, highlighting Bilibili’s unique position as both a distributor and a creator of content centered on its own community's interests.
