Na Nian Na Tu Naxie Shir 1

Na Nian Na Tu Naxie Shir, often referred to as Year Hare Affair, originated as a webcomic created by the artist Lin Chao, known online as Lin Chao (Maplef). First published in 2011, the series uses anthropomorphic animals to allegorize 20th-century geopolitical events and Chinese history. The first volume established the show’s distinctive blend of comedic irreverence and earnest nationalist sentiment, aiming to make complex historical milestones accessible and engaging to a younger generation of viewers.

The transition to the screen under the studio Wind Under the Wings brought these stories to life through a simplified, charming animation style that contrasts sharply with the often somber historical subject matter. The series has been received as a cultural phenomenon within its domestic market, praised by many for its unique storytelling approach, though its highly specific interpretation of historical events has naturally made it a subject of significant discussion and debate among international observers and historians.
