Miura Kyouji, a dedicated kendo student, discovers that his shisho (master) Tate Masanari is a reincarnated Incan warrior named Yawaru who wishes to destroy the world to purify it. Kyouji himself is the warrior Bilka, who foiled Yawaru's plans in their previous lives. Yawaru gathers other awakened spirits to release the powers of nature. Now Kyouji must wrestle with his own fate and decide if he is merely a vessel for the reincarnated soul or if he is truly Miura Kyouji and which will be better able to save the world and the future as he knows it.

Where it came from
Nazca, released in 1998 by Studio Genco, emerged during a period of experimentation within the late nineties anime landscape. The series was conceptualized to blend historical mysticism with contemporary action, drawing heavily on the iconography of the Nazca Lines in Peru. It was directed by Hiroyuki Okuno, with character designs by Yoshitoshi ABe, whose distinct, ethereal aesthetic heavily influenced the visual tone of the production.
The narrative follows a group of teenagers who experience visions of past lives as Incan warriors, creating a premise that juxtaposed high-school drama with esoteric re-incarnation themes. While it aimed to capture the burgeoning interest in occult-themed anime, it was received with mixed critical attention. Audiences noted the atmospheric visuals provided by ABe’s touch, though the complex, sometimes fragmented narrative pacing meant it remained a niche title compared to the breakout successes of that era.
