Where it came from
Released in 2016 to coincide with the theatrical debut of One Piece Film: Gold, this special '711ver' promotional booklet, often referred to as Episode 0 or the 'Gold' volume, was distributed exclusively through 7-Eleven convenience stores in Japan. It served as a commemorative tie-in designed to build anticipation for the feature film, which was directed by Hiroaki Miyamoto and supervised by series creator Eiichiro Oda.
The content follows the tradition of limited-edition One Piece manga supplements, featuring sketches, character designs, and behind-the-scenes insights into the film's production. The visual direction reflects the opulent, casino-themed aesthetic of the movie, emphasizing the distinct 'Gold' branding that defined the franchise's thirteen major cinematic outing. It was received by fans primarily as a collector's artifact, valued for its unique artwork and its status as a brief window into the collaborative process between Toei Animation and Oda.
