Wendy and her two little brothers are brought to the land of adventures, Neverland, by Peter pan, a boy who will never grow up. In Neverland they encounter exciting events and meet with little fairies, mermaids, Indians, and pirates. Required to act as a mother, Wendy never has a moments peace with all that is happening around her, including breath-taking fights with pirates. Later in the series, they set off to find a buried treasure with a map that they obtain from the pirates.

Where it came from
Nippon Animation produced Peter Pan & Wendy as part of their long-running World Masterpiece Theater series in 1989. The studio aimed to translate J.M. Barrie’s classic novel into a 41-episode anime format, intending to provide a more nuanced and character-driven expansion of the source material than typical short-form adaptations of the period.
The character designs were handled by Takashi Nakamura, who sought to balance the whimsical nature of Neverland with a grounded, slightly melancholic aesthetic consistent with the studio's traditional style. Upon its broadcast, the series was received as a faithful yet distinct interpretation of the story, noted for its emphasis on the emotional growth of the Darling children alongside the adventurous narrative.
