Where it came from
The Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice Prologue was released in 2016 as an original net animation, or ONA, designed to build anticipation for the launch of the sixth main entry in the video game series. Produced by A-1 Pictures, the short film served as a narrative bridge that introduced the game's setting in the Kingdom of Khura'in and established the stakes for the returning protagonist, Phoenix Wright, as he navigated a legal system devoid of defense attorneys.
The animation was crafted to capture the signature style of the series, balancing the dramatic intensity of the courtroom with the lighthearted character dynamics fans had come to expect. While the ONA was primarily a promotional tool, it was well-received by the existing community for its high production values and its ability to provide visual context for the game's new mechanics and cultural setting before players officially began their journey in the title.
