The majority of my 8-mm works were made for the three-minute "Personal Focus" film special put on in Fukuoka. This film is an animation of photographs I had taken on a regular basis as a sort of diary, and was made to have a rough feel to it.

Where it came from
Photodiary is a Japanese documentary film released in 2005 that captures the behind-the-scenes life and creative process of the artist and musician Momoko Goto. Produced during a period of burgeoning interest in intimate, diaristic digital filmmaking in Japan, the project serves as a personal archive rather than a traditional biography, emphasizing the mundane yet poignant moments of daily existence and artistic labor.
The film is characterized by its lo-fi, handheld aesthetic, which was a deliberate stylistic choice to foster a sense of immediacy and transparency between the subject and the viewer. Upon its release, it was primarily received within independent cinema circles and among fans of the Japanese avant-garde scene, noted for its unadorned approach to documenting the intersection of life and performance art.
